Mask Workshop with Trestle (Members) £60.00 £50.00
Trestle is a mask and physical theatre company based in St Albans and has been making innovative and inspirational physical storytelling theatre since 1981. Trestle is one of the leading providers of school workshops, teacher training and participation programmes in the country. We run mask, half mask and physical theatre workshops and residencies nationally and internationally.
Trestle’s workshops for drama teachers, professional practitioners and workshop leaders provide a unique opportunity to develop teaching and performance skills in mask and physical theatre, as well as discovering new ways of helping students create dynamic performances.
This afternoon workshop, led by Jason Webb, will introduce you to Trestle's current use of half masks as well as their traditional full masks and the physical theatre that naturally flows from either kind. It is guaranteed to be stimulating, educational - and funny.
Jason Webb has worked as a professional actor for over 20 years. He has worked on Trestle shows, devising, performing and touring The Island, Bitter Fruit and The Stoneheads at the National Theatre and is a Trestle Practitioner, delivering workshops in Mask and Physical Theatre all over the UK and overseas. He has just finished The Black Dog project (based on the book I Had Black Dog His name was Depression) with his own theatre company, Small Nose Productions. Jason also teaches at the University Centre Peterborough. He trained at Mountview Theatre School, and has also trained in Le Jeu, Clown and Bouffon with Philippe Gaulier, Commedia Dell Arte with Antonio Fava and Told By an Idiot, clown and half mask with John Wright.

STEP is a borough-wide partnership linking the theatre community and education and youth sector in the London Borough of Southwark. STEP aims to equalise, extend and deepen the theatre and drama experience of all young people living in Southwark through the development of strategic partnerships between schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations. STEP's objective is to work closely with Southwark schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations to develop creative approaches to learning and provide innovative projects which stimulate children and young people's personal development and contribute to their educational attainment.
